In conjunction with Awhi Whanau and the Ministry of Health, Choice in Community Living (Ma Te Awhi) provides support to people with intellectual disabilities that live or plan to live independently in a home that they rent, lease or own.
Our Ma Te Awhi services ensure that personal plans are developed so that people can improve their skills and capabilities towards independence and participation in the community.
Ma Te Awhi enables family and carers to receive support so they can continue their caring roles. Outcomes such as being able to maintain family/Whanau responsibilities and be included in cultural activities are but some of the opportunities that this service can assist with.
Our mission: “Mokopuna Choice” – It’s about mokopuna and providing them with choices towards their own self-independence and quality of life.
Our vision: “Manaaki Mokopuna” – It’s about improving the standard of care and wellbeing of mokopuna. After all, happy and content mokopuna, whanau, and communities are the very foundation of our country’s prosperity.
